A wartime thriller with a suspenseful atmosphere, well written characters, and excellent direction from Alfred Hitchcock.
When their ship is torpedoed by a Nazi U-boat, a few survivors scramble onto a lifeboat only to pick up the captain of the submarine that sunk them and was subsequently destroyed as well. Tensions naturally rise but the passengers and crewmembers make an uneasy peace with the enemy, working together to survive and make it to safety.
Tallulah Bankhead leads the cast as a worldweary writer and the rest of the cast I can't recognize, but they do a good job. Kudos to the actor who plays Willi, the U-boat captain.
